Dublin to Belfast train disruption until autumn due to construction of station

There will be disruption to Belfast to Dublin Enterprise train services until early autumn due to the construction of the new Belfast Grand Central Station.

From Wednesday July 3, the rail line will be closed between Lisburn and Belfast and Enterprise services between Dublin and Belfast will operate between Dublin and Portadown only. Bus transfers will operate between Newry and Belfast for customers travelling to and from Belfast.




The works include realignment of the track to serve the new station, alongside a period of testing, commissioning and training. Translink’s new Belfast Grand Central Station will be the new Belfast terminus for Dublin/Belfast rail services when it is completed later this year.

An Iarnród Éireann spokesperson said: “We wish our colleagues in Translink, with whom we jointly operate the Dublin to Belfast Enterprise service, well with this key phase in the exciting Belfast Grand Central Station project.

“We look forward to rail customers benefiting from this major new transport hub later this year, and to delivering – with Translink – an expanded hourly service between Dublin and Belfast later this year. We remind customers of the bus transfer arrangements between Newry and Belfast while these essential works take place.”
