Convincing Home Win for Dundalk 1

Dundalk 1: 288/9 (40 ov) Yash 85, Imran 3-49 Rush 3: 112/9 (23.1 ov) Mullen 53, Tayyab 5-18 Dundalk won by 176 runs

A five-wicket haul for off-spinner Muhammad Tayyab and a fine knock from opener Yash Verma saw Dundalk’s firsts inflict a heavy defeat on Rush 3 at Hiney Park.

Dundalk’s openers went unbeaten for 14 overs in the first innings before two wickets quickly fell. However, number one Yash Verma batted brilliantly for his 85 (including 14 boundaries) and batters 4 through 9 all got into double figures to see the town put up the daunting total of 288, the 5^th-highest score in the club’s history.

Rush needed a good start to try and threaten but didn’t get it, finding themselves 11 for 3 in the sixth over. Niall Mullen made life difficult for the hosts with a rapid 28-ball half-century, but it was Dundalk’s Muhammad Tayyab who shone with the ball, picking up a brilliant hat-trick and finding the stumps four times (also dismissing James King LBW) to claim his first ever fifer for Dundalk.

The 176-run victory was Dundalk’s 3^rd-highest win by runs since forming in 2009 and sees the firsts into third in Division 11 with two games in hand on leaders Sandyford.

Dundalk Seconds Humbled at Home to Sandyford

Dundalk 2’s league form continued to wane last weekend with a batting collapse in wet and windy conditions resulting in a heavy defeat to visitors Sandyford 4.

Winning the toss, the town were left ruing their decision to bat first early on, with brilliant swing bowling from Sandyford’s Nitish Batra and Puvanesh Senapathy removing the entire Dundalk top order within the first couple of overs (Pauric McCrum and captain Jiwan Jodhani both gone for golden ducks).

It didn’t get any better from there – no Dundalk batsman survived more than 15 deliveries nor managed to get into double figures. A final score of 28 all out was the 4^th-lowest innings total in Dundalk’s history.

Sandyford comfortably picked up the 29 runs, claiming sweet revenge for the 27 they were bowled out for in a crucial league game last season and ensuring everyone got home in time to watch India win the T20 World Cup Final.
