Duqm gets major uplift in services and infrastructure
Duqm: The Special Economic Zone Duqm adopts a strategy to provide all services, including electricity and water to investors for creating an environment attractive to investments.
Abdullah bin Salim Al Hakamani, Director of Technical Affairs Department at the Special Economic Zone, Duqm reaffirmed that the Public Authority for Special Economic Zones and Free Zones is exerting tremendous efforts for execution of road projects and services in the areas designated for heavy, medium and light industries, fish industries and industries associated with clean energy.
He said that a network of main and internal roads at the Special Economic Zone, Duqm for the length of 200 kilometres is planned. Construction works of the main roads and sub-roads in the area designated for fish industries would commence following the award of the related tender and the successful bids would be selected and announced by the end of the current year.
The Special Economic Zone, Duqm is conducting a consultancy study for a detailed plan for the area associated with the industries related to clean energy and green hydrogen.
Seven agreements on production of solar and wind clean energy and production of green hydrogen have been so far signed, he said, pointing out that the investment value of these projects amounted to over USD 30 million and the projects are expected to produce 1 million tonnes of hydrogen in 2030, he said.
He said that the Public Authority for Special Economic Zones and Free Zones has awarded the tender for the construction of the main roads and sub-roads of the area designated for medium and light industries for the length of 26 kilometres at the cost of over OMR 19.3 million.
He said that the Public Authority for Special Economic Zone, Duqm is currently executing the ‘ phase 1 of the “National Road 32′ ‘ Project, for the length of 15 kilometres at the cost of over OMR73 million. The project includes construction of main roads with three lanes and three flyovers and brigades, he added, pointing to the completion percentage of the project exceeded 47%.
