Ed Sheeran fundraises for London Irish Centre
Ed Sheeran is fundraising for the London Irish Centre with a global raffle to meet him at his concert in Larnaca, Cyprus, on 7 September.
The singer-songwriter is a longtime patron of the London Irish Centre, and all proceeds from the online draw will go towards the centre’s work, which includes “welfare, social engagement, and other community and cultural services”.
The prize also includes concert tickets, signed gifts, flights, and accommodation with more raffle details available at: londonirishcentre.org.
“My grandmother used the London Irish Centre quite a lot, and it will always be a safe haven for the Irish community in London,” said Sheeran.
“My Irish heritage is definitely the reason I play music, and as patron, being able to support their services through this campaign is very important to me.
“A massive thank you to everyone who enters the raffle to support a cause that is close to my heart. Hopefully meet you at the gig in Larnaca!”
Séamus MacCormaic, CEO of the London Irish Centre, said the organisation is “immensely grateful for the support of our patron, Ed”.
“The London Irish Centre relies heavily on donations, particularly in current times, as we support more people than ever facing poverty, mental health issues, social isolation and digital exclusion,” he continued.
“Each raffle entry helps us to provide vital community services, as well as a vibrant cultural and educational programme. Thank you to Ed, his team, and all who enter.”
Next year will mark the 70th anniversary of the opening of the London Irish Centre, “the largest Irish community centre outside of Ireland and the largest Irish welfare charity in Britain”.
