Edge Lane shopping centre to expand with Hollywood Bowl revamp

Edge Lane’s Liverpool Shopping Park will expand in an £11m project that will see the complete redevelopment of Hollywood Bowl.

Liverpool City Council has approved plans from Derwent Estates, which manages the shopping centre on behalf of the Albert Gubay Charitable Foundation, to expand it by 70,000sq ft. 90% of the area has been pre-let and it will take the total size of the park to 235,000sq ft.

The development will see Hollywood Bowl’s unit reconfigured and completely refurbished to create a new 35,000sq ft bowling and leisure facility with a new 20 year lease agreed. Tesla is also set to open a new 20,000sq ft car showroom on the site, having also agreed a 20 year lease.

The £11m expansion will also see two new drive-thrus added to the site. They will be operated by Five Guys and Costa Coffee, having both taken 15 year leases.

The additions will join brands including M&S Food Hall, H&M, Nike, Greggs, Next, Smyths Toys, JD Sports, TK Maxx and most recently, PureGym at the shopping park.

James Maule-Ffinch, senior asset manager at Derwent Estates, said: “The prominent location of Liverpool Shopping Park, fronting Edge Lane, means that it has immediate appeal to retail and leisure operators. This next phase in the Park’s development will increase it in size to 235,000sq ft making it one of the region’s largest and most popular out of town retail and leisure destinations.”
