Elderly man knocked to ground by teen outside shopping centre
Shocking footage has emerged of an elderly man being knocked to the ground by a teenage boy in broad daylight.
Police are now investigating the unprovoked attack which unfolded at Munno Para Shopping Centre in Adelaide’s north on Thursday afternoon.
Footage showed the teen confronting the man aged in his 60s, calling him a ‘fool’ before landing a single punch, which knocked the victim to the ground.
‘Get up dog,’ the teen appeared to tell the man lying on the ground.
The man got to his feet and grabbed a nearby scooter as he tried to defend himself but was rammed with a shopping trolley moments later.
The disturbing incident was allegedly filmed by a group of teens watching on who did nothing to help the man, according to Seven News.
The teens had fled the scene by the time police arrived.
South Australia Police confirmed it’s aware of the incident and has launched an investigation.
‘Officers spoke with the victim involved who reported being pushed and shoved by the group who left the scene shortly after,’ a police spokesperson told Daily Mail Australia.
No charges have yet been laid.
Other shoppers were shocked to see such chaotic scenes unfold, claiming ‘it’s getting out of control’.
‘It’s not as if he was provoked to hit him, he just hit him for the sake of doing it,’ one woman told 7News.
One man added: ‘It is disrespectful, but unfortunately that’s just our society.’
It’s understood that the man wasn’t seriously injured.
Anyone with information is urged to contact police or Crime Stoppers.
