Competition closes at 23:59 on
1 July 2024
Would you like your voice to be broadcast into space?! Well, The LEGO Group want you to come up with some wild and wacky ideas for a play date among the stars!
Do you dream of bouncing on the Moon’s surface wearing anti-gravity boots? Or having a rocket race with your friends to Mars and back? The choice is yours! The top ten ideas will be beamed into space – spreading play-date fun across the galaxy. So, let your imagination soar as high as the stars and get your voice sent into space!
THE JUDGES
A special team of experts and space fans – including space scientist Dame Dr. Maggie Aderin-Pocock DBE and singer songwriter of hits such as ‘Space Man’, Sam Ryder – will handpick their favourite ideas to be beamed into the cosmos. They’re looking for imagination, creativity, originality, passion and fun, so make sure your idea stands out from the rest of the galaxy!
GETTING YOUR MESSAGE TO SPACE
How on Earth will The LEGO Group send your voice out there amongst the stars? Well, they’ve teamed up with experts at Goonhilly Earth Station in Cornwall, who will blast the winning messages one by one into the cosmos.
Goonhilly’s amazing team of space specialists have created a unique piece of intergalactic computer code, specifically designed to transform your voice into a message that can be transmitted deep into outer space.
Your message will reach the stars via their huge radar dishes (above), which are normally used to report important messages to and from Earth’s satellites. Epic!
THE PRIZES
Not only will our ten winners get their awesome messages sent into space, but they’ll also win a LEGO SPACE BUNDLE featuring six of the coolest LEGO sets in the universe. Find out more about these cool kits here!
HOW TO ENTER
Entering is as easy as (freeze-dried) pie!
1. Using a smartphone, ask a grown-up to help you record a short video or audio message, no longer than 30 seconds, describing your fantastical outer space play date.
2. Let your imagination go wild! Maybe you want to play hide-and-seek in an asteroid field with friends, race a bike across the Moon’s craters, or something even more exciting!
3. Make sure your recorded message is loud and clear, in English, and doesn’t have any music in the background!
4. Once you’ve crafted your cosmic masterpiece, ask an adult to head online and upload it at LEGO.com/messagetospace
