Ethos Engineering adds 250 jobs with Exponent investment

Dublin headquartered engineering firm, Ethos Engineering, says it plans to create 250 new jobs over the next five years after it received a fresh investment from European private equity firm, Exponent.

The firms said the investment, the size of which has not been disclosed, will allow Ethos to accelerate its current growth plans and expand the range of services it provides to clients.

Founded in 2005, Ethos is headquartered in Dublin, but operates across Europe, Middle East and Africa region, particularly in the data centre building design, mechanical and electrical engineering spaces.

It has worked on 90 data centres in 19 different countries, but hopes to expand further.

“Today’s announcement with Exponent is a landmark moment for Ethos,” said Ethos Engineering chief executive, Greg Hayden.

“We’re a technologically progressive, ambitious business with a keen emphasis on sustainability.”

“Demand for data is continuing to grow and it is vital that data centre owners deliver their services in a way that is sustainable and energy efficient.”

Ethos, which employs over 200 people, will continue to be led by its existing management team.

The investment is the latest from Exponent which has offices in London, Dublin and Amsterdam and has so far raised more than €3 billion.

Among its current and past investments are Trainline, Moonpig, Ambassador Theatre Group, Big Bus, Isio, Loch Lomond, and Quorn Foods.

The company has been investing in Irish owned and based firms for more than a decade and has injected €1bn into ventures here over that time.

In 2012 it bought Fintrax, now known as Planet, while in 2016 it purchased the Racing Post.

It also bought Galway based fintech and services firm Enva in 2017, high voltage engineering business H&MV Engineering and Xeinadin in 2022 and earlier this year it acquired Chanelle Pharma.

“Increasing digitalisation of the global economy, particularly in areas such as artificial intelligence and cloud services, will continue to drive demand for data centres around the world,” said Anthony Clegg from Exponent.

“We are excited by the opportunities this creates for Ethos, as a trusted design partner to some of the leading global data centre players, to deliver sustainable design services on an increasingly international stage.”
