Everton supporters face major travel woes after new costs revealed
A week on from the 2024/25 fixtures being announced, it’s been revealed that Evertonians will cover more distance following their team next season than supporters of any Premier League club other than Newcastle United.
New research by cinch has calculated that travelling Blues face over six-and-a-half thousand miles on the road in the coming months which could work out at almost £1,000 worth of fuel. Supporters of Newcastle United, geographically isolated in the far North East near the border with Scotland, have been calculated as having the furthest to travel at 9,444 miles with a cost of £1,417 per fan but Everton are next up with 6,510 miles of travelling at a cost of £978 per fan.
Predictably, Liverpool fans are just behind their neighbours from across Stanley Park in terms of travel totals with 6,458 miles at a cost of £969 but at the other end of the spectrum, Arsenal fans have the least distance to cover on 3,966 miles at £595 cost per fan. The distances were calculated using the AA mileage calculator, and their calculations are based on what it considers to be the quickest and easiest, but not necessarily the shortest route, based on average off-peak driving conditions.
As well as Goodison Park set to be a sell-out like it has been for several years in all of the Premier League home fixtures for what will be the ground’s historic final season, Evertonians always fill their allocations wherever their team plays in the country but the extra travel this term is down to a paucity of other northern clubs.

As recently as 2010/11, Everton were one of eight clubs from within Lancashire’s historic borders in the top flight and along with Newcastle United and Sunderland, there were 10 teams from the north while Stoke City was just over an hour away from Merseyside.
However, some 13 years on, the northern contingent in the Premier League has dropped from a half to a quarter with Everton one of just five such clubs in a division that has seven teams from London; three south coast representatives and now an East Anglian outfit in the shape of Ipswich Town. Indeed, in the first three months of the season, Evertonians will be travelling over 1,360 miles, including a 494-mile round trip to Suffolk in October to face the newly-promoted Tractor Boys, splashing out £204 in fuel in total.
