Everyone says same thing about Roy Keane during ITV’s Euro 2024 coverage
Roy Keane was on punditry duty for ITV as Euro 2024 kicked off on Friday evening. Hosts Germany and Scotland clashed in the opening game of the tournament, which took place at the Allianz Arena in Munich.
ITV were slammed for their coverage ahead of the game due to them focussing on England for a time, despite Gareth Southgate’s side not playing for another two days.
An interview with Gareth Southgate was displayed early in the coverage building up to Scotland’s match, with Keane questioning if the England manager has learned from his side’s past failures.

He said: “Courage comes from the players on the pitch – but it also comes from the manager and the staff.
“In these tight games where…you know, going that last bit – maybe Gareth has learned his lesson. The guys mentioned there, [he’s been at] eight tournaments, this could be his last one.
“The bravery will come from the manager and staff making those brave decisions whether it be after an hour…don’t be waiting and waiting.”
And as ITV’s coverage switched to the tournament’s opening ceremony ahead of kick-off, viewers all only wanted to see one thing – Keane’s reaction to it.
One person wrote: “Honestly I’d rather have a live feed of Roy Keane reacting to this ceremony than the ceremony itself.”
Another commented: “Would dearly love to see a shot of Roy Keane’s face watching this insufferable ‘ opening ceremony ‘ nonsense.”
Someone else said: “Would have appreciated a Roy Keane reaction video to the opening ceremony.”
