Ex-Nets guard Darius Morris’ cause of death revealed

Former NBA player and college basketball star Darius Morris, who died in May at 33 years old, passed away due to coronary artery disease, according to a Friday TMZ report, which cited the Los Angeles County medical examiner.

The outlet reported that drug and alcohol use also played a factor in the Michigan Wolverines star’s death.

Cocaine, hydrocodone and ethanol were listed as “contributing conditions” to Morris’ death, ABC 7 in Los Angeles reported.

The death, according to TMZ, was ruled accidental.

Morris had an impressive high school career at the Windward School in Los Angeles before starring at the University of Michigan for two seasons.

He entered the 2011 NBA Draft, where he was a second-round pick by the Lakers.

Morris bounced around the NBA until a 2014-15 stint with the Brooklyn Nets.

He also starred in the NBA G League through the 2018-19 season.
