Experts warn ‘Azores weather’ swinging temperatures as Met Eireann issue update
The recent cold temperatures look set to be replaced by warmer air thanks to an Azores High in the next week or so.
A strong westerly jet has brought colder-than-average temperatures to Ireland and the UK over the past few weeks.
This led to the June average temperatures being below average. However, there does seem to be good news on the horizon.

The westerly jet will weaken which will allow warmer air from the south to push northwards which will see temperatures across Ireland begin to rise.
The Met Office in the UK tweeted: “A strong westerly jet brings cooler air over the UK during this week, with temperatures broadly below average. As the jet weakens, southerly winds will bring warmer air over the UK and we’ll start to see temperatures rise.”
A second weather expert has claimed that the problem with summer highs so far this year is that they’ve been “weak” with the core of the Azores High stuck out in the Atlantic.
“The problem we having this Summer is any build of heights is weak with the core of the Azores high very often pegged back in the Atlantic..thus allowing shallow lows to be caught up in the flow. La Nina may give this pattern a kick start, but will it be too late,” Matt Wolves tweeted.
