Family of motorbike crash victim reeling from third tragedy as fundraiser set up
Tributes have been paid to a woman who died in hospital after she was hit by a motorcycle while walking in north Dublin.
Karen Manley, 42, from Coolock, was walking when she was hit by a motorcycle. She was taken to Beaumont Hospital with serious injuries after the horror incident which happened before 7.15pm on Wednesday, June 19 on the R139 at Belcamp.
It is the third tragic death her family have faced in recent years as Karen’s older brother Paul died in 2008, as well as her sister Sandra, who passed away in 2022. Karen sadly passed away in hospital o morning, June 20, from her injuries and a post-mortem examination is to be arranged, according to gardai. The motorcyclist was uninjured.

Now, heartbroken family members and pals of Karen’s have paid tribute to their “beautiful sister and friend,” saying their hearts are shattered – as a pal has set up a Go Fund Me to help pay for the funeral expenses. One heartbroken family member took to social media and wrote: “Karen, our hearts are absolutely shattered. We love you so much. My poor ma and da. This just is not real. Give Sandra and Paul the biggest hugs for us. I told you last night your kids will be well looked after and now you can look after Tyrecce up there too. I love you forever.”
A close pal also paid tribute to Karen saying they will “miss bumping into you in town. We always had the chat and laugh about the past. God we sure do hold great memories. We have the best memories pal. And I’ll keep them forever. You were one of a kind and will be so sadly missed. You’re back with Paul and Sandra and Tyreece now. Sleep in perfect paradise my friend.”
The Go Fund Me, named ‘Karen’s Memorial’ has already raised nearly €300 within hours of it being set up by a pal who wrote: “This Go Fund Me is set up for Karen Manley who tragically passed away on June 20. She was so much loved. Her family has been through so much pain. They have lost their only brother Paul and their oldest sister Sandra. This is going to be so hard to get through so please any little will help go towards the funeral.”
Meanwhile, gardai continue to investigate the fatal crash and appeal for any witnesses. The scene was closed for a time on Wednesday for a technical examination by Forensic Collision Investigators. Gardai are appealing for any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling on the R139 at Belcamp, Coolock between 7pm and 7.30pm on Wednesday June 19, are asked to make this footage available to Gardaí.
