Fears grow for man missing on Kerry mountain after poor weather delays search
The urgent search operation for a missing man last seen on a Kerry mountain has resumed this afternoon after being delayed by poor weather.
Sebastian Jaworski, 46, has now been missing for six days after he was last spotted near the summit of Mount Brandon on Sunday afternoon, 23 June. The Kerry Mountain Rescue Team have been extensively searching the area since Tuesday, however the operation saw a considerable setback this weekend as low clouds rolled in late on Friday evening – bringing an early end to yesterday’s patrols.
The Kerry team are operating alongside members of the Search and Rescue Dog Association, Dingle Coast Guard, and Coast Guard Heli R115. The latest reports say all units resumed the operation this afternoon as visibility improved in the area.
The search will continue late into tonight, and Sebastian’s family have thanked all involved for their tireless efforts during challenging weather conditions.
This comes as many raise concerns for the missing man’s welfare, and members of the Kerry Mountain Rescue Team are making a public appeal for information from anyone who may have seen Sebastian.
He was last spotted near the summit of the mountain at approximately 3.30pm on Sunday. Members of the public with any information are asked to contact Dingle Garda Station. Emergency services have thanked locals for their support and food donations during the operation.
Mount Brandon is one of Ireland’s highest peaks and is on the Dingle Peninsula and is about a 20-kilometre drive from the town of Dingle.
