It’s feared there will be a tragic accident in Clare unless the local authority develops a plan for roadside trees dying from Ash Dieback.
Clare is thought to be one of the county’s worst affected by the disease which has already impacted over 16,000 hectares of forestry nationwide.
Currently, Clare County Council will offer advice to those who have roadside trees at risk of falling, but the responsibility lies with the landowner to ensure they do not present a danger to the public.
Whitegate Fine Gael Councillor Pat Burke says a common sense approach is urgently needed.
