Floor General: The 2023-24 Taunton Daily Gazette Girls Basketball All-Scholastics

Another high school girls basketball season has come and gone in the Greater Taunton area.

Bridgewater-Raynham (16-7, 6-2 Southeast Conference) once again led the way locally, utilizing a balanced attack and solid defense to make it to the Division 1 Elite Eight. Taunton (15-7, 10-6 Hockomock League) had its best season in over a decade, nearly winning the Hockomock Kelley-Rex and making it to the Division 1 Sweet 16 before falling to eventual champions Bishop Feehan.

Dighton-Rehoboth (3-17, 2-11 South Coast Conference) dealt with injury woes but still had some solid performances while Bristol-Plymouth (3-17, 3-13 Mayflower Athletic Conference), under longtime Diman assistant Mike Furtado, performed a season sweep of Old Colony.

With the winter season now in the rearview, here’s a final look back at the Greater Taunton area athletes who stood out among the crowd to earn their spot as 2023-24 Taunton Daily Gazette Girls Basketball All-Scholastics.

Player of the Year

Reese Bartlett, Bridgewater-Raynham

The senior guard and captain wrapped up an impressive high school basketball career as coach Cheryl Seavey and the Trojans’ “on-floor general,” leading plays on both offense and defense. She finished the season with a team-high in rebounds per game (5.8) and was No. 2 in points per game (11.6), assists per game (3.2) and steals per game (1.9). A strong shooter from range, she recorded 48 3-pointers to finish her high school career with 147. Some of her most notable outings this winter include 21 points, three rebounds, two assists and two steals against Bishop Feehan, 17 points, including the overtime winner, five steals, five assists and five rebounds against Wellesley and 15 points and four rebounds against Dartmouth.

An SEC All-Star, Bartlett’s talents and leadership will surely be missed at B-R next year as she continues her academic and basketball career at Colby College.
