Football teams: Kelly, Finnerty and Murnin all return

Sean Kelly and Rob Finnerty have been named in the Galway starting XV, while Andrew Murnin returns to the fray for Armagh as the pair renew acquaintances in Markievicz Park this Sunday.

Both Kelly and Finnerty missed the four-point win over Westmeath in Mullingar and had been thought doubtful for Sunday, though Pádraic Joyce has named them to start, Kelly stationed at midfield, while Finnerty is at No 13.

Damien Comer, however, is still ruled out following the hamstring injury picked up in the victory over Derry in Salthill. 2022 Footballer of the Year nominee Cillian McDaid is named at corner forward.

Murnin, a key figure in last year’s one-point win for Armagh in Carrick-on-Shannon, is named at full-forward, having missed their demolition of Derry in Celtic Park.

Kieran McGeeney has made one other change, with Ciarán Higgins being handed his first start of the summer at wing-back, the experienced Stefan Campbell dropping to the bench.

Eoin McEvoy is back in the Derry team as they seek to salvage their season in their final Group 1 game against Westmeath in Páirc Esler on Saturday.

The centre-back, who blasted home two goals in their league final win over Dublin in April, hasn’t played since they were shocked by Donegal in the Ulster championship later that month.

McEvoy replaces Conor Doherty in the half-back line, while Ciaran McFaul, sent off in his brief cameo against Armagh, is named at wing-back.

The forward line is re-jigged, with Emmet Bradley named at centre-forward, Eunan Mulholland slotting in at 13. Niall Toner is the player to make way.

Tommy Conroy comes back into the Mayo starting XV for Sunday’s All-Ireland SFC round 3 clash with Dublin at Dr Hyde Park.

Conroy, who impressed off the bench against Roscommon a fortnight ago, replaces Pádraig Ó’Hora.

David McBrien, an injury concern after going off during the win over the Rossies, is fit to start.

Stephen Coen captains the side.

Dublin are unchanged from the side that comprehensively defeated Cavan in the last round.
