Former Disney CFO Christine McCarthy Joins Board of Online Gambling Company Flutter

Former Disney CFO Christine McCarthy has joined the board of directors of online gambling company Flutter Entertainment.

McCarthy has been the Disney CFO from 2015 through June 2023 and then served as strategic advisor of Disney from July 2023 through June 2024. McCarthy announced she was stepping down in June 2023, with the company saying she needed to take a family medical leave of absence.

Flutter Entertainment owns brands including FanDuel, Paddy Power, PokerStars, Sky Betting & Gaming, Sisal and Sportsbet.

In addition to working closely with Iger during his first turn as CEO, McCarthy also worked closely with Chapek and backed several of his initiatives, including cost-cutting measures, which raised eyebrows during Iger’s second turn as CEO.

She has also been on the board of directors at Proctor & Gamble starting in 2019 and is the Chair of its Audit Committee and is a director of FM Global and the Chair of its Finance Committee.

At Flutter Entertainment, McCarthy will also be a member of the audit committee of the board, starting July 30.

Flutter Entertainment also added Robert Bennett, former director at Warner Bros Discovery to its board. He will join Flutter’s risk and sustainability committee.

“Christine and Dob’s extensive experience in the entertainment industry will be an invaluable asset to Flutter as we continue to extend our leading position as a global online sports betting and iGaming provider. We look forward to welcoming both Dob and Christine to the Board as non-executive directors and benefitting from their unique perspective and industry knowledge,” said John Bryant, Chair of the Flutter Board.
