Former NBA star Delonte West appears disoriented in public days after arrest
In what was another unfortunate series of events, Delonte West was seen in public once again after being recently arrested. He appeared disoriented while walking through a parking lot in Virginia. Footage from a person inside their car has surfaced and everyone is still amazed by his current situation.
He was wearing a t-shirt, NBA basketball shorts, slides and a red cap. People have commented on social media that he frequents the area in what many have said it is not a very safe part in town.
However, reports indicate that he is not seen all by himself like in this particular situation. He is normally accompanied by a friend and not in the state that he appears to be in in the recent footage.
His latest encounter with the law
Delonte West was arrested and jailed in Virginia on misdemeanor charges of violating the conditions of his release and resisting arrest, according to local authorities. He was held at the Fairfax County Detention Center on $2,000 bail and appeared in court last Friday.
Fairfax County police spotted West around 1 a.m. in Groveton, Virginia, and attempted to serve an arrest warrant, which resulted in a chase. Officers found him unresponsive after losing sight of him during the chase. West was administered Narcan, used to treat narcotic overdoses in an emergency, twice before responding and being transported to the hospital.
He recovered there and was transported to the Fairfax County Detention Center. He has publicly spoken about his bipolar disorder diagnosis during his NBA career and has struggled with substance abuse issues in recent years.
He was treated at a drug rehab center in Florida in 2021 and Mark Cuban, former owner of the Dallas Mavericks, helped him put his life back together. West, who played for the Celtics, SuperSonics, Cavaliers, and Mavericks, averaged 9.7 points and 3.6 assists per game over eight seasons in the NBA, retiring in 2011-2012 with Dallas.
