Mirra Andreeva proved herself to be the dark horse in Paris yesterday. Showing steady progress throughout the first half of this season, this teenage WTA star from Russia hit the jackpot against Aryna Sabalenka. While the fraternity has yet to grasp the result, adorable Andreeva reveals her girl-next-door self mentioning “don’t like to do” school!

Andreeva revealed an interesting fact about her personality, which surely proved that despite her tennis brilliance, she is just like any other teenager on the block. “I would say that I am almost like a normal teenager because I still have to do my school that I don’t like to do. I watch a lot of TV series on my spare time I watch Netflix. I sometimes spend too much time on my Instagram or I just do some crap when I’m at home and I laugh I talk yeah just doing some normal things”- said Andreeva in a Roland Garros press conference.

This 17-year-old Russian WTA star is still looked at as a teenager with a bright future ahead in her professional tennis career. However, she already bagged the WTA Newcomer of the Year award last year showing that age is nothing in front of hard work and dedication. Now that Andreeva defeated Australian Open winner Aryna Sabalenka in the Paris quarterfinals, she has proven to be more mature than her age.

Post-victory, this Russian WTA star spoke about where she differentiates from other teenagers. “But maybe what makes me a little different is that I don’t know if I can say that I’m mature but I feel myself a little mature person and I feel that I know what I’m doing and yeah I would say that maybe I’m a bit more mature” – said Andreeva.

This talented teenager did quite well in Madrid as she reached the tour’s quarterfinals but lost to Sabalenka. Andreeva was quick enough to avenge her loss by defeating Sabalenka in Paris. This Russian WTA star also reached the Open De Rouen and Dubai Open’s quarterfinals this year, showing her constant growth in professional tennis.

Not only that but she also revealed her feelings before entering the court against Sabalenka. “Honestly, I was really nervous before the match. I knew that she would have an advantage, especially with the crowd… But I actually was a little surprised, because you guys also cheered for me”- she concluded. After winning the quarterfinals, Andreeva is prepping for face-off against Jasmine Paolini, who is 11 years older than her.

Nevertheless, Mirra Andreeva’s statements show that glamour and fame haven’t ruined her teenage life. But she inevitably shows that she is a kid who dislikes her school. Despite such simplicity, Andreeva also presented that she might be a teenager off the court but on the court, she is as fierce as any other mature WTA pro.
