Galway club event promises city nightlife renaissance as new venue unveiled
A Galway club night is set to see the city’s nightlife scene come alive as organisers reveal the event venue this week.
‘Splanc!’ is the latest event helping to bring Galway back to its heyday as it takes over a once-popular nightlife venue this month.
The event, helmed by club night organiser Galway Funk, made its debut back in May.

Previous events from Galway Funk have taken place at Cookes Thatch Bar on Newcastle Road in Galway city.
The latest ‘Splanc’ event is set to take place within the next few weeks on Friday, June 14 at The Office Bar in Salthill.
Tickets are €5 on Eventbrite and as hype grows, they’re likely to sell out.
Once upon a time, Salthill was the hub of Galway nightlife with more than a dozen nightclubs adorning the area.
These days, the city centre lights up at the weekend as students flow through the streets for their nights out – with all of it documented on Snapchat and Tiktok.
But back in the 1990s, it was Salthill that dominated student nightlife with a slew of clubs strung all across the Promenade.
Sadly for us in the decades since, most of those clubs that saw us through the rave scene have closed their doors for good.
You can cast your mind back to those days with a walk down nostaglia lane here.
