Galway Races Summer Festival Tickets:  This week on Big Bay Breakfast, Garry Curran is asking you to Hold Your Horses for a galloping great competition with Galway Races, we’ve got a pair of tickets to,  a day of your choice, at this years Summer Racing Festival to give away each day.  Tune in from 7am each morning for you chance to win.

The Galway Races Summer Festival offers top class horse racing with 53 races (all sponsored) and 800 horses due to race.   The festival has a mixed card for the week with national hunt and flat races being held on all seven days.  There’s huge prize money a whopping €2.159 Million on offer.  Racegoers also have delicious hospitality options and lots of live entertainment, there are over 50 acts books for the week.  Then, there is fashion to take your breath away,  Thursdays is  Ladies Day sponsored by The Connacht Hospitality Group  and Friday’s Most Stylish by Athlone Towncentre.

It’s a huge partnership for the Galway races as Guinness sponsor the full card at Galway on both the Thursday and the Friday of the Summer Festival, with the hotly contested Guinness Galway Hurdle Handicap race of €270,000 taking centre stage on Thursday 1st August.

The Melbourne Cup is due on site on Saturday as part of their World Tour. The 19-carat Melbourne Cup is valued at $750,000. It will visit 39 destinations including our own much loved and iconic Galway Races, Saturday 3rd August.

The Fashion :

Thursday is of course  Ladies Day with a  Best Dressed  grand prize on offer of €10,000 cash and a €3000 prize for the Best Hat competition winner.   The judging panel for this years is : Head Judge Mandy Maher, Kieran O’Malley (representing the sponsors, Connacht Hotel Group) and Guest Judge Michelle Regazzoli Stone.

Friday’s Most Stylish Competition is in association with Athlone Towncentre, and the judges are: Louise Cantillon & Marietta Doran.  The winners will receive a €2000 Athlone Towncentre Gift Card, a luxury 2 night break in the 4 Star Sheraton Athlone Hotel & an exquisite white gold diamond pendant courtesy of Fields The Jewellers.
