Gardai called to remove ‘rowdy group’ on packed train to Dublin
Iarnrod Eireann passengers heading out from Galway were hit with a major delay after Gardai swooped in on a Dublin-bound train earlier today.
Gardai boarded the train this morning as it made its way to Heuston Station in Dublin, and a group were escorted off at Athlone, reports Galway Beo. A passenger who witnessed the drama unfold shared on social media: “The Guards were taking people off in Athlone. Wouldn’t you be depressed and you meant to be going to a (festival)”.
With an influx of travellers from Galway to Dublin today, Iarnrod Eireann has rolled out special trains to manage the crowd. Dublin will clash with Galway at Croke Park in the All-Ireland quarter final this evening at 6:15pm.
