Gardaí in manhunt for brazen thieves behind daring Meath house raid

The two masked raiders who broke into a house in Stamullen, county Meath before making off with a substantial haul of jewellery.

These are the two thieves gardaí are hunting following a daring broad daylight house burglary in county Meath that resulted in the theft of a large haul of jewellery.

Detectives are anxious to track down the pair after a near month long investigation has so far failed to muster any kind of a breakthrough. The incident in question took place at a private residence in Stamullen, county Meath on April 24.

Both raiders were wearing gloves and face coverings.

The two culprits, both of whom were wearing gloves and face coverings, forced their way into the property shortly after 3pm.

“Gardaí are investigating a burglary that occurred at a house in Stamullen, Co. Meath on the 24th April 2024 at approximately 3.15pm,” said a garda spokesperson.

“A number of items were taken. No arrests have been made and investigations are ongoing.”

Gardaí have secured potentially vital CCTV footage showing the first of the two raiders walking through the front gates of the property.

A short time later, the same suspect can be seen returning to the road before returning seconds later with his co-accused.

The pair are understood to have spent a number of minutes inside the house, exiting a short time later carrying a pillowcase filled with jewellery as well as a number of other personal items.

One of the suspects gardaí are hoping the public will help identify.

One of those was a crystal lamp which one of the men dropped on the ground before it was thrown over a wall.

Both men the fled the scene on foot to what gardaí believe was a black Audi parked a short distance away.

Investigating officers have revealed the episode led to the loss of a substantial number of sentimental items including a gold necklace, bracelet and a Princess Diana style sapphire ring.

The incident also featured on last night’s (Monday) episode of RTÉ’s Crimecall.

Gardaí are anxious to make progress with their investigation and have released descriptions of what both raiders were wearing on the day of the heist.

The first suspect was described as wearing a baseball cap and grey jacket with a dark coloured hood, black bottoms, runners and red gloves. His accomplice was wearing dark gloves and a navy jacket, grey tracksuit bottoms with pockets on the legs.
