Gogglebox star announces baby news as they show off new addition

A FORMER Gogglebox star has announced some exciting baby news as he showed off the new addition to his family.

Tom Malone Jr, who appeared on the Channel 4 show between 2014 and 2021, posted an adorable snap of himself holding his nephew on Instagram.

Tom was all smiles in an oversized white t-shirt as he smiled at the camera while holding the tot.

He captioned the post: “Welcome to the family Caelan #UncleDuties.”

The bundle of joy was born on June 11.

Baby Caelan’s dad is Tom’s brother Lee, who has never appeared on Gogglebox.

He’s not the only one as their sister Vanessa has also chosen to stay out of the limelight.

The Malones have been on Gogglebox since series four in 2014.

Tom Snr, Julie, and their sons Tom and Shaun appeared on our screens on their red sofa alongside their rottweiler dogs.

However in February 2021, Tom Jnr decided to step away from the show.

Tom wrote on Instagram: “So after 6 and a half years it’s finally time to put down the remote, and to say goodbye to Gogglebox,” he wrote on Instagram.

“I’ve loved every minute and I’m eternally grateful to @channel4 and @studiolambert for allowing me to be a part of the show.

But new opportunities are knocking on the door and it’s time to explore them.

“I look forward to enjoying the show as a viewer and not having to worry about having said something stupid.

“PS. Don’t worry my family @themalonesgb and @shaunmalone95 will still be on the show to keep you guys entertained every Friday.

“To the future.”

Prior to that he had hinted that he was going to quit after his then-girlfriend couldn’t join the show.

Late last year Tom broke down in tears as he opened up about his brother’s health battle.

During an appearance on a podcast, he explained Shaun has overcome numerous brain surgeries when he got sinusitis at 15.

 Speaking on Power of the Ordinary podcast, Tom said: “My younger brother got seriously ill, was in hospital, in a coma for a while.

“When he was 15, he got sinusitis, just like a cold that got infected. He must have had a tear because it  affected all his brain fluid.”

 “I put him in the back of the car because he was too big for my mum to carry.

“I do this thing when traumatic stuff happens or if I get some really bad news, I will just shut off and go into auto pilot and dive into something. So I went straight to training.

“Didn’t realise that as I’ve gone to training, he’s started to have a seizure in the back of the car. He’s gone to the hospital, they’ve put him in a drug induced coma.

“Give him a bunch of brain surgeries and told my mum and dad he had a one in ten chance of survival. They had to keep a part of his skull out so they could keep doing brain surgeries. He was covered in tubes.”

Fighting back tears Tom revealed the incredibly touching thing Shaun said when he came round.

“When he came out the coma, he had to learn to walk again because he was completely paralyzed on his left hand side.
