NEW ROSS SENIORS

Last Thursday saw the players taking part in our weekly competition treated to mixed weather, with rain, wind and sunshine plus a chill in the air for the time of year.

Twelve teams took part and once again we had impressive winners with a great score of 95 points in the prevailing conditions.

Taking the honours were M.J. Cullen (22), Jimmy O’Neill (23), Seán Murphy (27) and Paddy O’Shea (28).

Second place went to Tommy Ryan (22), Frank Boyle (25), Michael Long (31) and Paddy Power (43) with 92 points.

Third prize was won with a score of 89 points by Danny O’Leary (14), Seán Ó hUiginn (26), Robert O’Dwyer (28) and Les Jastrebski (33).

Many thanks to Liam Glasheen for handling the entries and checking the score cards for the last two months. Martin Burke has kindly agreed to do the job for June/July.

Would all players please mark their intention to play clearly on the sheet provided at the gate? It makes the task of drawing teams that much easier rather than have latecomers saying, “Oh, I put my name down”, when clearly they did not, upsetting the rhythm of team selection.

Many congratulations to manager, Jamesie Wallace, who has steered his team to county success in the J.B. Carr competition. We wish the manager and the boys every success in the future rounds.

Our next away outing is to Faithlegg on Monday, June 17. Johnny Farrell will take names and green fees of €25 for all those wishing to travel this Thursday, June 6.
