Holidaymakers urged to book with Irish travel agent
Holidaymakers have been urged to book with an Irish-based travel agent to avoid disruption caused by the insolvency of FTI Group.
The group, which is one of Europe’s biggest tour companies, filed for insolvency this week. One of its subsidiaries is YouTravel, which supplies accommodation to multiple travel agents in Ireland as well as online travel agents.
The Irish Travel Agents Association says it recommends holidaymakers book with an Irish travel agent who is registered and based in Ireland to ensure their consumer rights are protected
The association says its members have deployed dedicated teams to address customer inquiries.
Clare Dunne, CEO of the ITAA said the association advises booking a holiday “with an ITAA Member Irish-based, licensed, and bonded travel agent who will be available when you need them”.
“Just because a company has an Irish phone number or a .ie website does not mean they are based in Ireland. It’s essential to book with a travel company that is easily contactable.”
