Hot Galway Races tip as horse owner ‘looking at event’ after first place finish
A powerful four year old horse that’s just won his last few races could be set to compete in Galway in what would be a major opportunity.
Rauzan, a rapidly improving horse trained by Eoin Doyle, won the novice hurdle by an impressive 12 lengths at Downpatrick on Monday.
The stallion now has won two competitive novice hurdles in excellent style after the victory yesterday with jockey Phillip Enright.

The winning trainer Doyle reacted to Rauzan’s success, saying “He travels and stays well. Phillip said he picked up well from the back of the last, and we might look at Galway.”
The horse was on 2/1 odds for the race, a major improvement since his previous outing at Downpatrick (10/1) and his May race in Tramore (22/1).
Rauzan has won £18,470 to date, close to €22,000, and could make a major pick for Galway if his owners do decide to run him.
Anticipation is growing for this year’s Galway Races and the enthusiasm is certainly present in the race-going public if ticket sales are anything to go by.
This year’s races will run from Monday 29 July to Sunday 4 August and have generated more buzz than any other year, to the pleasant surprise of organisers.
It’s understood that advanced ticket sales for the festival have “exceeded expectations” compared to this time last year and the Qatar Goodwood Festival which runs in Chichester, England during the same week as the Galway Races has been easily outdone by the Ballybrit event, with organisers describing their UK ticket sales as “tough”.
Galway Races organisers have announced a new guest judge for the glamorous Lady’s Day festivities, Michelle Regazzoli Stone, an award winning make-up artist, social media influencer and ‘Mrs Glam’ brand co-creator.
Michelle will be a part of the judging panel for the Galway Races highly aniticpated ‘Best Dressed Lady’ and ‘Best Hat’ competitions.
