‘I can’t stomach any more dark, disturbing TV – why I’m over the misery watch’
To some of us, intense fan-favourites like ‘The Bear’ and ‘Baby Reindeer’ suddenly seem like too much stress. But what makes these shows escapism for some and emotional battery for others?
As someone who really, really likes watching TV, I’m a sucker for both the hype and the cult favourites. Attention-grabbing headliners, long-stay shows 17 seasons strong, a one-off series a friend of a friend said was great? I’m all in, keep it coming.
So it’s maybe surprising for me to admit that I still haven’t watched Baby Reindeer (and not because the excellent Jessica Gunning went to the same high school as me and I’m mad jealous — well, not just that).
