‘I can’t stop wearing mine’ cry shoppers as they run to bag £12 Primark 90s buy

OF all the 90s fashion trends to make a return this summer, this comfy one is bound to be popular.

Flared leggings ticked all the boxes three decades ago – flattering, comfortable and versatile – and now they’re set to be a wardrobe staple again.

It doesn’t matter if you’re hitting the gym, doing the food shop or heading out for dinner and drinks, they can be worn with anything.

And their flared silhouette means they look good on any shape.

They flew off the shelves in Primark last year, and now the bargain high street store has released a brand new version.

The new V-Waist Flared Yoga Leggings are in a slightly thicker ‘gym leggings’ material which makes them feel like you’re getting more for your money.

Priced at £12, they come in sizes XXS – L and promise to be “as stylish as they are sporty” with their cross-over waistband and flared fit.

Primark bosses say: “These yoga leggings are the perfect blend of comfort and style for your active, athleisure, or straight-up leisure looks!

“Featuring a flared silhouette and a cross V-front waistband, they offer a flattering fit that moves with you.

“Whether you’re hitting the mat or running errands, these leggings provide the flexibility and support you need to go about your day.

“Pair them with a sports bra for your workout or a cosy sweater for a casual, chic look. You’ll love how versatile and comfortable they are!”

The retail giant’s Sauchiehall Street store in Glasgow has since gone viral with more than 190,000 views after sharing a clip of the new flared leggings on their racks.

Primark fans gush over viral dress which is the ‘most perfect wardrobe staple’ – and it’s just £10

And they’re already proving hugely popular with shoppers who’ve been racing to their nearest branch to bag a pair.

“I’m currently wearing them. I love them”, gushed one.

A second cried: “GUYS U NEED TO GET THEM I CANT STOP WEARING MINE.”

A third echoed: “Got them on rn.”

A fourth said: “Make sure you have some coz l coming for them.”

A fifth pleaded: “I want some. They look cute.”

Meanwhile, a sixth wrote: “I better be able to find these.”

Noughties and ’90s styles have been storming the high street in recent months – we’re looking at you baby tees, disc belts and leopard print.

Now, an iconic footwear trend is back too – and we’re not talking about ballet pumps or jelly shoes.

The classic Swedish clogs were a boho staple for celebs including Sarah Jessica Parker, Alexa Chung and Kate Moss back in the day.

The Sex and the City star has since given their return her seal of approval after being spotted in them while filming And Just Like That’s new season last month.

So it’s no surprise that high street stores are embracing the clip clopping style again with New Look, River Island and ASOS all stocking their own versions.

But it’s a budget-friendly £22 option in Primark’s Rita Ora collection that has caught the eye of shoppers.

Other 90s trends making a comeback

WE might be in 2024, but fashion fans are looking to the past when it comes to new styles. So what trends from the 90s are making a comeback these days?

Claw clips

These hair accessories were a huge trend back in the 90s, but are now most popular among those trying out the “clean girl” aesthetic. Designers such as Prada have released their own versions, while there are thousands of colours and styles to choose from on the high street.

Platform flip flops

Again a popular choice among fashionistas in the 90s, these heels have made a comeback with designers such as Balenciaga trying their luck with their own styles.

Cargo pants

Once worn by the stars of All Saints, cargo pants became a popular trend for teens in the 90s. But they’ve now had a fashion overhaul, with stars such as Bella Hadid and Hailey Bieber all putting their own spin on the trend.

Jeans and a nice top

It was the phrase that defined fashion for a decade, and now famous faces such as Sofia Richie are sporting the reinvented trend – pairing their own denims with a more sophisticated top. But are you willing to dig your jeans and nice tops out of the wardrobe for a second time?
