I tried farm shop’s £3 bag and got huge pork joint and other treats

Too Good To Go bags are a great way to save money and reduce the amount of food that gets thrown away, and in the past I have tried the bags from a few different places, but mainly places like Greggs and Costa. Recently I saw that a farm shop near Newark was on the app, and was selling bags most days for just £3.33.

Hardys Farm Shop in Farndon is a family-run shop and cafe that has been around for decades. They are really well known in the area for their range of fresh produce and they sell all sorts of amazing things in the shop, from sweet treats to artisan cheeses.

It was easy enough to place an order on the app, and although the pickup time was 4.30pm to 5pm, I was willing to risk the Newark rush hour to pick one up. Obviously one of the main things about the magic bags is that you have no idea what you will end up with, but I knew it would be groceries and deli items because it was in that category.

The staff at the shop were really friendly and within a couple of minutes, I was in and out. Although there was a brief second I thought Jeremy Clarkson was in the shop, as there is a huge cut out of him looking rather serious near a display of his Hawkstone beers.

When I got my bag the first thing to note is it wasn’t even a bag, but a large cardboard box that felt very heavy. Bearing in mind I had only paid £3.33 the first thing I saw was a large 710g loin of pork priced at £6.38, which alone made the bag worth it.

There was also a pot of Do Goodly Dips nacho cheese priced at £2.29, a tub of Longley Farm jersey single pouring cream for £2.15, and a pack of six finger rolls. The bread didn’t have a price on it but I feel like it would have been around £1.50 to £2, which means for less than £3.50 I had more than £12 of products.

This was a great bargain, and I was pretty happy with my items as I really wasn’t sure what to expect. Plus, when I eventually battled the rush hour traffic and got home, I was able to cook the meat and make some chilli and garlic pork rolls for dinner.
