IKEA confirm April date for opening of outlet in Sligo shopping centre

The Canopy, Sligo.

IKEA says it will open Plan and Order Point in The Canopy (formerly Johnston Court Shopping Centre), Sligo on April 19th.

It will be the first time that IKEA will have a presence in the North West.

IKEA’s Plan and Order Point are specialised stores focused on bespoke kitchen and wardrobe design planning. These outlets offer customers access to home furnishing advice and expertise, supporting them in designing, buying, and installing their ideal kitchens and bedrooms.

A spokesperson for The Canopy said: “We’re delighted to welcome IKEA Plan and Order Point to The Canopy as their hub for the North West. As part of the centre’s reimagination, we hope this addition to Sligo brings exciting new possibilities for those designing and furnishing their homes.”

Martyn Allan, Market Manager, IKEA Ireland, said: “We are thrilled to introduce a slice of Swedish design and affordable home solutions to new areas of Ireland, where we haven’t previously been physically present. Our Plan and Order Points are the perfect spot to craft your dream kitchen without breaking the bank, offering a 25-year guarantee on all kitchens. Beyond kitchen planning, these locations serve as an ideal hub for assisting individuals who live a distance from our Ballymun store, whether they’re looking to order a new sofa, wardrobe, or any other IKEA product.”

After a €1 million rebrand and makeover, The Canopy is a transformed shopping destination. Located on O’Connell Street, this retail hub has undergone a complete reimagination with a strong focus on sustainability. Lush greenery and trees have revitalized the interior, solar panels are being installed to provide renewable energy, and a dedicated initiative supports local businesses and artists. The centre has seen an uptick of 9% in footfall over the last quarter in 2023 compared to the same quarter last year.

The Canopy says further new stores are set to arrive in the coming months.
