‘I’m a WAG and love shopping for bargains in Asda – despite what trolls think’

WAG Abbie Guy has slammed trolls ridiculing her for shopping at retailers like Home Bargains and Asda – arguing the stereotypes of being married to a footballer are ‘wild’

A footballer’s wife has defended her penchant for picking up a bargain following criticism online.

Abbie Guy, who is married to Carlisle United midfielder Callum Guy, can often be seen pushing her trolly down the aisles of retailers like Home Bargains and Asda in search of a steal. The couple have two children, Ava and George, and Abbie works as a full-time mum looking after them.

However, with a reported yearly salary of £176,800 – many trolls have viciously attacked Abbie’s lifestyle – which appears to go against the typical flashy WAG way of living – and told her to get a ‘proper job’.

After posting a video of her day out shopping, one troll wrote on TikTok: “You drive a Peugeot and shop in Home Bargains… Maybe you need a job if you want the life you think you live!”

The 26-year-old clapped back, replying to the comment in a separate video. She said: “The stereotypes of being married to a footballer are absolutely wild. If I show off my flashy things I’m pretentious and not relatable – but if I was to just go about my normal day-to-day life of shopping in Asda and Home Bargains that must mean my footballer husband is broke.

“I’m extremely lucky that I get to be a stay-at-home mum while my husband’s wages provide for us all – I don’t get why people care where I do my food shop or where I get my clothes from. It’s really not that deep. I don’t have to justify myself to absolutely anybody.”

Hundreds of users rallied around the WAG, blasting the troll for his nasty comment. “People are free to shop where they want, not everyone wants to be flashy and false. There is no law that says people with money can’t shop in Home Bargains,” one user wrote.
