Immediate Yellow Thunderstorm warning issued for two Munster counties
Cork is enjoying a fair day of weather today – but Met Éireann has issued an Yellow Thunderstorm Warnings for Tipperary, Waterford and nine other counties.
The warning first came into affect at 5:48pm and will be valid until 9pm tonight. It also applies toCarlow, Dublin, Kildare, Kilkenny, Laois, Offaly, Wexford, Wicklow and Galway.
At first the only Munster county on the list was Tipperary – but it was expanded to include Waterford shortly after 7pm.
Met Éireann has warned of possible spot flooding, poor visibility, and difficult travel conditions in the affected counties, as well as a chance of hail this evening.
The forecaster has predicted a climb in temperatures for Cork over the weekend, with highs of 20C tomorrow.
In the meantime, we’re going to have another relatively mild day today while we wait for conditions to pick up.
Any rain that we’re expecting today will ease off overnight – mainly effecting the west of the county. Similarly tomorrow, Cork will get better weather than the rest of Munster.
The Rebel County is set for higher temperatures and less rain than elsewhere in the province.
Met Éireann said: “A spell of rain will move eastwards across Munster later this morning and will be followed by sunny spells and scattered showers. Some heavy and thundery downpours are possible today and may cause spot flooding. Highest temperatures of 14 to 17 degrees in a moderate to fresh and gusty westerly wind.”
