Injured hiker with ‘deep cut on leg’ rescued from near Wicklow cliff walk

A hiker was rescued after they sustained injuries following a fall in Wicklow.

Emergency services were alerted to the casualty near the cliff walk between Bray and Greystones on May 25, 2024. The hiker suffered a deep cut on their leg due to the fall.




A spokesperson for the Dublin-Wicklow Mountain Rescue Team said: “A mountain rescue doctor assessed the casualty, who was then transported back to the car park on a stretcher for handover to the National Ambulance Service for onward care.”

It was a busy couple of days for the emergency services as they were alerted to a person who had fallen near the Miner’s Road in Glendalough and suffered a leg injury on May 26. The spokesperson explained: “The casualty was assessed and treated at the scene by mountain rescue medics and a paramedic from the National Ambulance Service.

“Mountain Rescue then evacuated the patient over steep ground using a stretcher and safety rope system and handed the person over to an ambulance for onward care. If you ever need help in the hills, our volunteers will respond 24/7.”
