Inside the Buffalo Bills’ 2024 NFL schedule: Opposing QBs

Almost immediately upon the release of the Buffalo Bills’ 2024 schedule, Bills Mafia began dissecting it and giving their predictions on the upcoming season. Over the next couple of weeks in this space at Buffalo Rumblings we’ll break down some numbers based on the position groups that Buffalo will face.

There’s no better position to start off with than the most important position on the football field: quarterbacks.

Three

The number of Super Bowl-winning quarterbacks the Bills will be face this season. The first resides in their own division — and that would be Aaron Rodgers of the New York Jets. Buffalo will, given the fortune of good health, square off against Rodgers at least twice in 2024.

A now very familiar face is of course the defending champion quarterback of the Kansas City Chiefs — none other than Patrick Mahomes on the Kansas City Chiefs. The Bills play host to the Chiefs in the regular season, marking Mahomes’ second trip to Orchard Park, NY. Fun fact, the Bills are 3-1 against Mahomes in the regular season. Yes, we know Buffalo has yet to beat him in the playoffs when it matters most.

The last QB the team will be facing who holds a Lombardi is Matthew Stafford of the Los Angeles Rams. Stafford last faced the Bills on opening night of the 2022 NFL season. Stafford is 0-3 in his career against the team.

Five

The number of potential quarterbacks that Buffalo will be play against for the first time. Three of those quarterbacks reside in the AFC South. There’s C.J. Stroud with the Houston Texans, Will Levis for the Tennessee Titans, and Anthony Richardson of the Indianapolis Colts.

Buffalo did see Richardson in the preseason last year, but this will be the first time squaring off against him in the regular season. When the team plays the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday Night Football it will be their first time playing Brock Purdy. Lastly, we’re assuming that when Buffalo plays the New England Patriots late in the season it’ll be first-round pick Drake Maye starting at quarterback.

Two

Two highlights the quarterbacks who beat Sean McDermott and the Buffalo Bills the last time they matched up in the regular season. One the Bills will see in the season opener — Kyler Murray with the Arizona Cardinals. The majority of Bills Mafia remembers the “Hail Murray” where he broke Buffalo’s heart completing a long touchdown pass on the final play of the game after the Bills took the lead late in the fourth quarter.

Then there’s Trevor Lawrence who has beaten the Bills the last two times in the regular season. Most recently it was last year in London, and before that came two seasons ago when Urban Myer was still the head coach of the football team.
