Investigation into razor blade buried in bus seat in Limerick

BUS EIREANN and gardai are investigating after a razor blade was discovered buried in a bus seat, which could have seriously injured a passenger.
The sharp object was discovered on the busy 303 route from Kilmallock Road, which goes through the city centre, to Pineview.
A photo of the blade stuck in the seat was sent into the Limerick Leader by a member of the public.
“This is horrific. Fair dues to the bus driver for spotting the blade as you could easily miss it.
“Imagine a little old lady out getting her few bits and going home afterwards on the bus and sitting on that seat.
“It would cause a nasty injury not to mind the shock if it,” they said.
A Bus Éireann spokesperson said the Route 303 (Pineview-Kilmallock Road) was operating as normal on Wednesday, June 26 when a passenger informed the driver that seats were damaged upstairs.
“Upon inspection, the driver saw a sharp object lodged in a seat. The driver informed our control team and the vehicle then was pulled from service.

“The safety of our passengers and staff is of paramount importance to Bus Éireann and any incidents reported are taken very seriously and are fully investigated.
“Customers can report any incidents to gardaí, to the driver or to our customer care team on 0818 836 611 or via customercare@buseireann.ie ,” said the spokesperson.
