Irish perv linked to Holly Willoughby plot sicko flees home after locals act

AN Irish pervert who exchanged messages with the man who plotted to kidnap, rape and murder TV star Holly Willoughby fled his home after locals discovered his true identity.

The Irish Sun can reveal Mark Mulligan is no longer living in a housing estate in northwest Dublin after residents staged a protest outside his home.

Mulligan had been living with an innocent female relative in a house, which was located near a school, and had “kept to himself”, according to locals.

However they were left outraged when his past crimes came to light following the conviction of evil Gavin Plumb in the UK.

Plumb had tried to recruit Dubliner Mulligan, 49, as the pair of sickos fantasised over kidnapping ex-This Morning presenter Holly over thousands of messages.

Mulligan – who pulled out of the scheme in June 2023 – is now under investigation by the gardai after they were alerted by Essex Police through Interpol.

Residents of the Dublin estate realised who Mulligan was after seeing him pictured in online articles following the case.

Stephen Troy, who is on the residents committee of the estate, told the Irish Sun: “For us we were horrified that our children were passing the door playing. There should be a lot of systems in place for people like him.

“The guards, when I approached them, told me they had been monitoring them, but clearly they weren’t monitoring him.

“Because if they were, they would have uncovered what he was up to in relation to the Holly Willoughby case.

“So we feel disappointed, not only by the guards, but by the system in place for these people.”

Mr Troy said around 70 to 80 people held a peaceful protest outside the house after it came to light that he was living there earlier this month, with locals warning that it was going to continue until he had left the area.

The innocent woman living the house assured them that he had gone as did the gardai.

Mr Troy added: “We don’t want him in an environment where our children are playing.

“The content is very disturbing and his intentions are very disturbing towards pregnant women in general and particularly children.

“We were failed by the actual system, the fact that they would actually house somebody like this within 300 yards of his school.

“We were never alerted that of his existence in the estate and secondly that he was supposed to be monitored, yet he could be involved in the graphic details of the Holly Willoughby case.”

Movements monitored

Gardai have seized electronic devices belonging to Mulligan and continue to monitor his movements.

Mulligan, of Clongriffin, Dublin, is a convicted stalker who fantasised about raping TV stars and their children.

In 2014, he was jailed for three-and-a-half years, suspended for a year, after being convicted of harassing a woman whose son he threatened to rape and possessing indecent material of children.

In his messages with Plumb, sentenced to life over the plot, they discussed how they would need to find a remote site to keep Willoughby.

Mulligan replied: “Definitely, so no one can hear her scream.”
