Irish pub incident update as person involved ‘takes responsibility for action’

A popular pub in the west of Ireland has given a positive update after a prized piece of memorabilia was taken without warning from the premises.

Prendergast’s in Castlebar was the victim of theft after the “P” in its sign was taken a couple of weeks ago.

What made it worse was that the sign was a gift to the family many years ago so it held sentimental value for the owners. After looking at the security camera footage, the owners appealed to the person who stole it to return the item to save everyone time and money.

Writing at the time, Prendergast’s posted: “Talk about ‘Taking The P’ ! We have gone through our security cameras and would appeal to the person who removed this to save us time and money by returning it.

“The signage was a gift to our family a number of years ago. Due to the sentimental value, it wasn’t ever replaced as we chose to upcycle it instead. Because of this, we would be willing to waive the consequence if it is returned, we know this is a long shot but wanted to give it a go.”

Now, in the latest update, the owners have revealed that the letter was returned and have thanked the person who returned it saying it took “integrity” to own up to your mistake.
