Irishman dies on holiday abroad as tributes pour for dad ‘with heart of gold’
AN Irish dad with a “heart of gold” has been lovingly remembered after he passed away suddenly whilst on holiday last week.
Geoffrey McManus, who was from Sligo town, sadly died unexpectedly while holidaying in Bulgaria.
He has been remembered as the “adored father” of Khiya, Lincoln and Jaxon and the “cherished son” of Gerry and Maisie.
A notice on RIP.ie adds: “Dearly loved brother of Georgina, Chantel, Jennifer, Patrice & Gregory; sadly missed by his loving family: aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces, cousins, relatives and friends.”
Geoffrey’s heartbroken family said they “can’t express” how much they appreciate the love and support that they have received since the tragedy.
His nephew Brandon Mills added: “It has been overwhelming and both of my grandparents cannot thank you all enough.”
Brandon has set up a GoFundMe campaign, admitting that the family are “seeking help from the community” in order to bring Geoffrey home and lay him to rest.
The fundraiser has already amassed a whopping €8,400 through 234 donations out of the €10,000 goal.
Brandon said: “Geoffrey, unfortunately passed in another country, Bulgaria. In order for Geoffrey to be released and finally get home to his family where he will be laid to rest my Grandfather has to fly over and speak with legal representatives.
“Myself and my Aunt Jennifer will be coming along with him for support.

Pal Jake Downey added: “Geoff I can’t believe you’re gone man I’m in bits brother you were the funniest fella I knew always there for me and we always had the best buzzes together.”
Another mourner told how Geoffrey had a “heart of gold” and someone else added that he was a “skilful footballer”.
The Steels Family said: “My heartfelt sympathies are exrended to Jeffreys parents Maisy and Gerry, three beautiful children and his sisters and brother.
“I am truly so sorry for your loss. Jeffrey was always so goodnatured and outgoing. Always chatty and down to earth. He will be missed. May he rest in peace. Thoughts and prayers.”
