Emma Navarro is not the only one from her family to make waves in the tennis world! The American tennis pro has a younger sister named Meggie, whose passion lies in the sporting world too, and that too in tennis. Although she has not yet turned professional, her collegiate tennis career already speaks volumes about her talent on-court.

While Emma Navarro is currently vying to win her third-round match at the Roland Garros, it seems her younger sister is also soon going to join her as a pro tennis player. Right now, her focus is on studying at the prestigious University of Virginia. But apart from her academic endeavors, she has her goal clear for the future. How? This is because she has already made her mark as a student-athlete in college. Even her high school (Ashley Hall High School) results in tennis were astounding. Ranked at No. 61, Meggie Navarro went on to become an All – Lowcountry First-team honoree for SCISA with her remarkable talent in tennis. 

However, the breakthrough in her junior-level record came when she went to college and played even bigger matches. As a significant member of the Cavaliers’ women’s tennis team, her accolades since 2022 have shown more promise than ever. Once ranked among the top 15 players from her school in the southeast region, Navarro was now an ITA Scholar-Athlete. 

Emma Navarro’s sister, Meggie, kept on pushing her limits and achieved success in both singles and doubles. Be it winning at the Wahoowa International or making a debut at No. 5 in dual matches, Navarro was just about to start making everyone awestruck. Naturally, she finished the season at a rank as high as 71 (20-7 doubles record). However, what came next season further emphasized the storm that she was about to bring on-court.

And this time, it was even bigger. Why? Because she won a total of six doubles matches, even after changing partners five times! Not only that, she ended the season at No. 3 (in doubles) while playing in the NCAA tournament (3-0) as well. Although off the court, she likes to maintain privacy. Even her Instagram account is only for her close people, as she has kept it private. Much like her, Emma Navarro also does not like to enjoy the “spotlight” in the tennis world, as she once revealed the reason behind it in an interview.

Emma Navarro’s take on “being a good tennis player”

Emma Navarro started the season with a tough semifinal encounter with Coco Gauff. Although she couldn’t get past her, after a few weeks, she went on to win the Hobart International. Currently ranked 24, Navarro has now her eyes set on Roland Garros, where she will soon face Madison Keys. Naturally, all attention will soon be on her as she proceeds in the tournament. Surprisingly, Navarro does not like that.

“It’s not my nature to want to be in the spotlight and have eyes on me, but it’s the position that I’ve put myself in and this is what I’ve worked for my whole life,” she once stated. The 23-year-old player further added, “It’s something that comes along with being a good tennis player or athlete.”

Emma Navarro’s hot streak of giving her best results on-court is far from over this year. After producing her career-best run in the Australian Open earlier this year, she also went on to defeat Aryna Sabalenka later at the Indian Wells. Therefore, inevitably, the spotlight is sure to shine on her. But hopefully, soon she will have a new companion to share this fame with on-court as her sister slowly rises in her career too.
