Is this why Lottie Ryan is leaving 2FM slot after only five weeks?

Five weeks ago, the slot mercifully vacated by The 2 Johnnies was renamed Drive With Lottie And David, when it was announced that Lottie Ryan would be co‑hosting with David O’Reilly – who revealed he was also leaving yesterday.

Now it seems influencer and comic Kayleigh Trappe is getting the slot. RTÉ and Lottie have insisted her run was only ever meant to be ‘short-term cover’.

It’s not RTÉ’s general practice, though, to name a slot for a fill-in presenter – Oliver Callan was filling in for weeks on the Nine O’Clock Show before he was formally announced as Ryan Tubridy’s replacement.

Sources inside the station certainly seem to think that Lottie had been earmarked for the role but was axed because of poor listener feedback.

Still, she’s a professional broadcaster, and drafting in ‘influencers’ to boost audiences hasn’t exactly worked out well…
