I’ve been an Amazon Prime member for more than a decade. Here’s what I’m shopping this Prime Day | Now To Love

Prime Day is back for 2024, with hundreds of thousands of products set to be discounted. While that can seem overwhelming, at least you have more time than ever to bargain hunt. 

Unlike past years, Prime Day is on for six days! From 16 July to 21 July, Prime Members can ‘add to cart’ like nobody’s business. The retailer is slashing prices on items from electronics to home and kitchen wares, Amazon devices, everyday essentials, beauty, video games, toys, shoes and more. 

It’s basically Christmas in July!

With two kids (one with a July birthday), Father’s Day coming up, a full-time job and a home that could use a refresh, this is what I’m planning to save on during the annual shopping event as a 15-year Prime veteran.

TOYS AND CRAFT KITS

Amazon is my go-to for kids’ birthday presents, family activities and arts-and-crafts kits to keep my budding artist busy for hours – and away from a screen.

This Prime Day, Amazon promises savings across craft supplies, kits and art accessories. I’ve also read that certain toys will be discounted as well. This means it’s the perfect time to stock up on birthday presents for all the parties my kiddos are sure to be invited to for the rest of the year.

And I’m just over here fingers and toes crossed that we’ll also see savings on Squishmallows – Amazon, are you listening?

ELECTRONICS

I have a teenage son, so it’s less about the toys and more about the electronics these days. According to Amazon, top brand names like Apple, Bose and Philips will be featured in the sales. 

While he’d no doubt love a new smart TV, iPad or headphones, he won’t get all three. However, I will be checking in as soon as the clock strikes Tuesday to see what bargains I can scoop up.

FATHER’S DAY

Father’s Day isn’t until September, but that doesn’t mean we can’t get a head start on getting something for the rockstar men in our lives. 

I, for one, will be checking out a Kindle for my darling husband. He’s really gotten into reading a lot of leadership books to level up in his career, and a Kindle Scribe seems like the perfect gift of support. Right now, it’s on sale as an ‘early deal’, but before I add to cart, I’ll wait to see if any more dollars get shaved off its $429 sale tag.

Also, when you sign up for a Prime membership between 24 June to 21 July, Amazon is giving you three months of Kindle Unlimited for free. After that, it’s just $13.99/month, and you can cancel anytime.

EVERYDAY ESSENTIALS

From toilet paper to coffee pods and bubbly drinks, I regularly turn to Amazon to deliver the items I need straight to my door. 

Come Prime Day, several of these items are sure to be discounted, making it easier to save. And in this economy, who isn’t pinching pennies?

KITCHEN HELPERS

My kitchen has been neglected a bit too long. And trying to get dinner on the table for a family of four after working in the office all day is not an easy feat. 

So to streamline the process, I’m hoping to snag an air fryer that promises to make simple work of dinner. 

I’ll also be looking around for fresh kitchen towels (can never have too many!) and a pretty new cookware set that’ll make me want to cook dinner.

CLEANING ITEMS 

Toilet bowl cleaners aren’t glamorous, but they are a necessity. So, I’ll be popping some of that goodness in my cart along with more shower, glass and surface cleaners. 

Literally, Amazon has pretty much everything. I regularly buy hand soap, body wash and shower spongies from the retailer as well. So you can bet, I’ll be checking back on Tuesday to see if they’re discounted as well.

• Create an Amazon wish list: Now that Amazon is a few days away still, creating a wish list is a great way to map out what you need now. There’s even a feature to turn on deal notifications, which alert you when a product on your wish list goes on special.
