Jack Barrett swaps Everton for Blackburn Rovers – extratime.com
Blackburn Rovers have confirmed the signing of goalkeeper Jack Barrett.
Barrett, 22, previously with Everton, has agreed to a contract lasting until June 2025, with an option for an additional year. Having been with Everton since the age of nine, Barrett rose through their ranks to the Under-21s and spent the latter half of the 2023-24 season on loan at Canadian Premier League club Cavalry FC.
Following his move to Ewood Park, Barrett expressed his enthusiasm for joining the team and integrating with his new colleagues during their training camp in Austria.
“I’m very pleased,” Barrett said.
“I’ve been here for the last week and have enjoyed my time with Ben [Benson], Chris [Renshaw], and the other keepers. I’m excited to be here permanently now.”
He noted the warm reception from the team. “Everyone has made me feel very welcome, and I’ve got on with everyone straight away. Austria will help me get to know all the other lads too, as we’ll be with each other 24/7.”
Reflecting on his long tenure at Everton, Barrett said, “I was at Everton for 14 years – a long time – but I think it was the right time to move on and try something different. Blackburn Rovers is the perfect place for me.”
Looking ahead, Barrett aims to make a significant impact. “I just want to try and play as many games as I can, be in and around the first team, and hopefully, we can have a successful season.”
