Jannik Sinner’s ex-girlfriend breaks silence ahead of Medvedev Wimbledon clash

Jannik Sinner’s ex-girlfriend has broken her silence since the Italian tennis sensation confirmed he was dating a fellow Wimbledon star. Maria Braccini began dating Sinner back in 2020, and their relationship was kept private for the most part.

However, in May this year, the Wimbledon star announced that he was now dating Russian tennis player Anna Kalinskaya without sharing any details of his break-up with Braccini. His 23-year-old former girlfriend stayed silent on social media after parting ways with Sinner but has now posted for the first time on Instagram since the end of March.

Taking to social media ahead of her ex’s Wimbledon clash with Daniil Medvedev, the influencer and model said: “I never talked about myself on social media, I never shared anything about my private life or what I was doing. I’ve been working hard over the last few years to achieve one of my biggest dreams.”

She added: “I went on a trip to sign a paper that is really important to me, which marks the beginning of a new, long path. Thank you to all the affection you have always shown me, especially in this last period, I am immensely grateful. Often, reading you, I had clear eyes, aware of the affection and support you gave me. Thank you, thank you, thank you with all my heart.”

Capping off the post, which showed photographs from the past month or so, Braccini added: “And then…How is it said? For every door that closes, there is always another one that opens. See you soon!”

22-year-old Sinner is currently competing at the summer’s Wimbledon tournament – favourite to lift the title and add to his first Grand Slam trophy achieved at the Australian Open earlier this year. He would meet with Yannick Handfmann in his opening game, winning 6-3, 6-4, 3-6, 6-3, before beating Matteo Berrettini in a close second-round game which ended 7-6, 7-6, 6-2, 7-6.

Sinner would beat Miomir Kecmanović 6-1, 6-4, 6-2 in the third round before achieving victory over Ben Shelton in the round of 16 6-2, 6-4, 7-6. He goes on to face Medvedev in the quarter-finals of the tournament on Tuesday – meeting with the winner of Carlos Alcaraz and Tommy Paul if victorious.
New girlfriend Kalinskaya looked to be making waves in the women’s Wimbledon tournament herself until injury forced her to retire from her match with Elena Rybakina. Kalinskaya, who was being watched by her partner Sinner, already got the better of Panna Udvardy, Marie Bouzkova and Liudmila Samsonova before facing the Kazakhstani in the round of 16, going down 6-3 in the first set.

But pain in her neck and arm forced her to ultimately withdraw in the second, allowing her opponent a walkover into the quarter-finals against Elina Svitolina. 25-year-old Kalinskaya still seeks her first Grand Slam title after being knocked out in the quarter-final of the Australian Open earlier this year.
