Job boost as Gardai hiring for civilian staff – including role with €160k salary

A NUMBER of new civilian roles for Garda recruits are being advertised to bolster forces as part of this year’s budget.

The force seeks individuals with the drive and passion to “make a difference in people’s lives” with one boasting a starting salary of €160,000. 

Garda is looking for determined individuals for the Incident Creation Representative role to support operational members of An Garda Siochana through 24/7/365 telephone support service in Castlebar, Co Mayo.

The candidate will also take calls and elicit information to record/update accurately and efficiently in accordance with policies and procedures. 

It requires compliance with policy and procedure relating to various protocols which underpin the PULSE system. 

Main responsibilities include acting as the point telephone contact for operational members of the gardai and on occasion members of the public concerning AGS’s Traffic Watch Service. 

The ICR role requirements include a minimum education of Leaving Certificate with at least Grade D in five subjects, Level 5 Certificate, or equivalent. 

At least one year of experience in a customer service or contact centre environment is desirable. 

The closing date for applications for these roles is Thursday, June 13. 

To qualify, candidates must be eligible to work in Ireland on or before the competition’s closing date. 

The Clerical Officer salary scale will apply to this position with a weekly starting salary of  €555.90. 

Another position is being offered by the Garda Commissioner as Executive Director of Finance & Services, with a starting salary of almost €160,000. 

They are seeking a “suitably qualified person” with extensive financial experience in senior leadership in a large, complex organisation for this position. 

Reporting to the Chief Corporate Officer, the Executive Director will share corporate responsibility for the leadership, management, policy and strategic direction of An Garda Síochána in delivering its corporate goals. 

Responsibilities include management of the Garda Vote, the Estimates process and Budget setting, leading a high performing team of finance, procurement, estate and fleet management professionals. 

A key focus of the job will be to modernise the financial systems, financial processes and financial capabilities while providing governance oversight of the annual budget allocation to maximise delivery of An Garda Síochána strategic objectives and broader reform agenda. 

The ideal candidate must have a third-level degree, be a current registered member of a prescribed professional accountancy body, and have significant experience in a senior financial leadership role.
