Jobs website Indeed to cut 1,000 jobs globally
Jobs website Indeed is to cut 1,000 jobs globally, around 8% of its workforce.
It is not yet known how many jobs will go at the company’s Irish operation which employs more than 1,200 people.
In April 2023, 225 Irish-based employees at Indeed were let go as part of 2,200 worldwide job cuts.
In a message to staff today, Indeed CEO Chris Hyams said that while last year’s layoffs were driven by cost savings, this action is being taken because the company needs to simplify its organisation to make it easier and faster to make decisions, and help to more effectively grow revenue and hires.
“While the reductions touch many groups and regions, they are not across the board like last year; rather they are mostly concentrated in the US, and are more focused on R&D and some Go-to-Market teams,” Mr Hyams said.
“Employees in Ireland, the UK, and Australia will hear within the hour whether you will be entering into the consultation process,” he said.
In his note to staff, the Indeed CEO said that while the global economy has improved in several areas over the past year, the company is not yet set up for sustainable growth.
“Despite our efforts so far, our organisation is still too complex, we still have significant duplication of effort and too many organisational layers that slow down decision-making,” Mr Hyams said.
