Joe Burrow reveals the new skill he’s learned during wrist rehab

Joe Burrow has picked up a new hobby that has helped him with his troubled wrist as he looks to avoid repeating the injury this upcoming NFL season.

The Bengals quarterback shared that he’s learning piano to help with rehabilitation.

‘Hopefully I can get pretty good at that by next season,’ Burrow, 27, told Complex Sports.

‘I guess it’ll be pretty tough during the season, but it’s helped my rehab too for my wrist, so that’s something I want to get good at.’

The former No. 1 overall pick tore a ligament in his right wrist in Week 11 against the Baltimore Ravens last season. Burrow also had trouble with his throwing hand in the 2023 season.

But now, he described this year’s offseason as an ‘opportune time’ and the ‘perfect storm’ to combine key coordination and wrist movements as he wants to make sure he’s ready to go by the fall.

The Bengals open the regular season Sept. 8 at home against New England.

Last month, when Cincinnati’s minicamp ended, Burrow said he’d continue to rehab, while spending some more time at the pool and continue learning to play the piano via YouTube instructional videos.

‘I’ve been through (injury rehab) before, so I know exactly what it´s going to take for me to feel in tip-top shape come September,’ Burrow said.

Burrow also felt pain in his right wrist during the 2023 games, which opted him to get surgery

‘And, you know, our training staff has been through it before. Coaching staff has been through it with me before. So we know. We know how to handle it.

‘But I also feel really good about how I´m throwing,’ he said.

‘And so now it’s just about making sure my body feels the way that I need to come July 24 on our first day of practice and then through training camp into the first game.’
