John Gilligan’s teen associate rushed to hospital after savage daylight machete attack

Gardaí have launched an investigation into the frightening incident in Neilstown, Dublin 22 which was recorded on camera.

The teenage victim was rushed to Tallaght University Hospital for serious injuries, which included horrific wounds to his arms.

Shocking footage shows two people in dark clothes appearing to wait for their target behind a wall in Dublin 22.

“These lads are waiting for somebody, they’re going to stab somebody, they tried to grab some fella a minute ago on a bike,” a woman says off camera.

“They’re sitting there waiting for him.”

Later, as the attack is being filmed, the woman states: “They are after catching him, they are after bateing (sic) the legs off him.”

In the footage, the victim can be seen lying prone on the ground as blows from a long, metallic implement rain down upon him.

The victim suffered serious injuries to his body and was rushed to hospital for treatment, following the vicious assault.

An onlooker told the Sunday World that the level of violence used during the attack was “shocking”.

Gardaí confirmed they are investigating the incident.

A garda spokesperson told Sunday World: “Gardaí received report of an incident of assault that occurred at approximately 3:45pm today, Tuesday, 11th of June 2024 on Neilstown Road, Dublin 22.

“One male juvenile was conveyed to Tallaght University Hospital for treatment for injuries believed to be non-life-threatening at this time.”

John Gilligan was a drug dealer, money launderer and the head of the gang who murdered Sunday Independent journalist Veronica Guerin.

In 2002, Gilligan was acquitted of the murder of the crime reporter, who had earlier been assaulted by the gangster while investigating his activities.

Twisted Gilligan claimed in a recent documentary that his former right-hand man John ‘The Coach’ Traynor ordered the attack, while the killing shot was fired by Charlie Bowden.

“And the man on the bike was Brian Meehan, 100 million per cent. Without a shadow of a doubt. They’re dogs, they’re dogs. They’re lowlifes. They’re the lowest form of life going. There was no need to do any of that,” he said.

The pint-sized Ballyfermot native is understood to reside in Torrevieja in Alicante.

Gilligan received a suspended sentence last September from a Spanish court for drug smuggling offences.

He had been accused of smuggling cannabis and sleeping pills into Ireland.
