JW Anderson to collaborate with Guinness on fashion collection

Derry-born designer Jonathan Anderson is bringing his fashion prowess closer to home with his latest project, as he announces a collaboration with Guinness.

Anderson, who is the creative director for Spanish luxury label Loewe and a sought after designer to stars like Rihanna, Beyonce and more, unveiled his latest collection with his eponymous label JW Anderson last night at Milan Men Fashion Week.

A collection of items inspired by Guinness and its iconography were included in the line, alongside quilted duvet jackets, slogans calling for “Real Sleep”, oversized neckties and knitwear inspired by brick buildings.

The collection was inspired by the JW Anderson team’s visit to the drinks company’s brewery, and pays homage to the look, texture and colour scheme of the beverage.

According to a press release, “pieces mix elements of inclusive luxury, grounded in wearable and natural fabrics. One striking design is a cashmere blend jumper, hand knitted with Anderson’s name in his own signature embroidery in the style of Arthur Guinness’s signature.

Speaking about the collaboration, Anderson said: “I’ve always been obsessed by Guinness and their brand. I think they are still today one of the greatest advertisers and I liked this idea of using their amazing graphics.

“There is something about the way in which marketing was used – especially at the turn of the century and how Guinness really pioneered (and still do) how we look and approach the art of branding. I’ve always wanted to be able to show some of it, because in fashion we think we are so radical but actually they were way before all of that.”

The ready-to-wear capsule collection will be launched in November 2024 via JW Anderson stores and online, and will no doubt become one of the must-have fashion items of the year.
